Title: Application of Emerging Materials in Photonics Engineering
Synopsis: Emerging materials have revolutionized photonics engineering, offering unprecedented opportunities for light manipulation, ultrafast laser generation, and optical signal processing. This lecture explores the latest advancements in two-dimensional materials, including MXene and MoS₂, and their applications in photonics. Based on recent research findings, we will discuss how these materials enable photon-to-photon modulation, polarization control, and nonlinear optical effects, paving the way for next-generation optical communication and sensing technologies.
A key focus will be the integration of these materials into fiber laser systems, where they act as optical modulators and saturable absorbers to enhance ultrafast laser dynamics. Special attention will be given to dark pulse fiber lasers, a field where novel material-based modulators have demonstrated significant performance improvements. The lecture will also highlight real-world applications, including high-speed optical interconnects, biomedical imaging, and secure quantum communication.
By bridging fundamental research with practical implementation, this session aims to provide insights into how emerging materials can drive future innovations in photonics. Researchers, students, and industry professionals will gain a deeper understanding of the transformative role these materials play in modern photonic systems.
